Go Now in Peace

Although it feels like we have been planning towards our trip for a long time, we're actually just a few months in. Time is speeding by, and we're sure that the remaining 31 days in Canada are going to be over before we know it! Our kids finished off their school year last week, and it was so hard to say goodbye to their friends. Many of their classmates they won't see for nearly 16 months! Having summer come, and having gradual good-byes is probably a good thing, as it softens the blow a little. We have already finished off one camping trip, and are in the heart of our second! Having this time to connect, relax, and play with friends and family is so good for the soul!

As far as getting ready for our trip, one of the bigger items on our to-do list was to get our travel vaccines. One of our kids had trouble sleeping just thinking about getting a needle (or 2). That fear could get laid to rest as we all received our vaccinations, and it was actually quite quick and painless (plus the doctor was a hoot!).

Jon chose Ivy's shirt that morning, and the doctor and us all had a good laugh at how perfect the shoulder cutouts were for vaccination placement. I'm not sure I will see the "cold-shoulder" shirts quite the same from here on out!

We have very little left to tackle before we leave. The list includes things like finding more homeschooling books, buying some more hot weather clothing (this 30+ degree weather we're having in the Fraser Valley right now is getting us all prepped for the heat!), getting international drivers licenses etc. This update will probably be the last that is posted from Canada! We're very much looking forward to arriving in Zambia and getting settled in to our new roles!

For those of you that pray, we have the following specifics that we'd love to be included:

- Peace and joy as we enjoy the last month in Canada with our family and friends

- Safety and patience (!) as we fly overseas

- Please pray for those who currently run & serve at Seeds of Hope, that the light and love of Jesus will continue to shine through in all that they do.

To finish off, here is a song I've been singing on repeat lately. The lyrics couldn't be more fitting!

Go now in peace. Never be afraid.

God will go with you each hour of every day.

Go now in faith, steadfast, strong and true.

Know He will guide you in all you do.

Go now in love, and show you believe.

Reach out to others so all the world can see.

God will be there watching from above.

Go now in peace, in faith, and in love.
